Objectives
This NCCR 2012 paper development workshop (PDW) is a pre-conference activity that aims to bring together Nordic or “Nordic-minded” junior consumer researchers to (1) discuss recent developments and future directions in the theory and methodology of Nordic consumer research and (2) help them develop their ideas and papers in close interaction with leading scholars in the field. The workshop is targeted primarily to later-stage PhD students, postdocs, and early career faculty members who wish to improve their capabilities in doing high quality research and getting their work published in the major publication outlets of the broader field of cultural consumer research.
The workshop is organized around short introductory presentations by the senior scholar participants of the workshop and collaborative round table tutoring sessions, where the junior scholar participants get feedback on their research ideas and working papers.
Themes addressed in the workshop include the following:
• How to establish interesting research gaps and groundbreaking theoretical contributions to cultural consumer research?
• How to build new theory from consumer practice?
• How to build innovative research designs and methodological frameworks for cultural studies of consumer practice?
• How to write articles that get published and cited in the field of consumer studies?
The workshop will be concluded by a keynote presentation by Professor Jonathan Schroeder, who is currently the Editor in Chief of Consumption, Markets & Culture. He has also editorial experience in other leading publication outlets of the field.
